Older Class

I was hesitant to finalize a time for an older class until I had enough students to fill one up! But it looks like I'll have a nice class for ages 6-8. Most people are happy with Thursday at 9:00, so that will be the time for my older class. Let me know if you haven't given me a for sure answer yet on that class!

Gym Pictures!

In case you are wondering how I can fit a whole gym into my basement, I decided to post a few pictures. Obviously the gym will not always be set up in this exact configuration, and not all the equipment I will be using is shown. But you can get the idea.

Our gym is in a large open room with a built-in loft and slide, and even a few hidden tunnels! Four 4X8 high quality tumbling mats give us plenty of space to jump and roll in safety, and can be easily moved for other tasks and adventures!

There is plenty of space for parents to sit and watch, and other children are welcome to play in the adjoining playroom or the gated backyard. Students will enter through the basement entry through the gate to the side of the garage.

Our adjustable bar is just right for younger students, and our low beam will give them the perfect practice for high beam work in the future. (Once they've mastered their skills on flat floor beams!)
Remember that often, our class will move outside to use the trampoline and lawn as well. So during summer, my gym gets twice as big! Even more equipment is coming soon. All the gym needs now is little Jumping Beans to fill it up! See you next week!

Weekly Jumping Beans Themes!

I thought I'd give you all a little preview of some of the themes we'll be doing this summer! While we practice our basic skills, we will use our imaginations, props, music, and books to help us think and move along the lines of our theme. It makes doing the same things each week a little more engaging and helps them learn correct technique at the same time.

Themes this summer may include:

Animal Day: Kiss the frog, jump over the snake, dip your toe into the alligator pond, walk like a bear, hang like a possum, and kick like a donkey! Acting like animals can be a great way to learn.

Space Day: Get ready to launch your rockets, walk on the moon, and reach for the stars as we take off into outer space!

Food Day: Can you make your body into the shape of a banana? Make a peanut butter sandwich with your feet? Hold pizzas in your hands while you do a somersault? There are lots of ways to think of food as we move, and learn about great things to eat at the same time!

Circus Day: Come to our circus training camp, where you can learn to learn to walk the tightrope, tame a lion, swing on the flying trapeze, and be an acrobat! Will you also have to be a clown? Maybe.

Medieval Times: Lords, ladies, princes and princesses, come to the castle for the festival! A tournament is a great place to see feats of strength and bravery.

Transportation Day: Car, airplanes, and boats can fly, roll, and float, and so can we! We don't need vehicles to get moving in this great class.

Octopus's Garden: Come in your swimsuit for an underwater party. Water obstacle courses, games, and challenges will make our gymnastics skills even more fun!

Nature Day: Climb a mountain, balance on a log over a raging river, and slide down a waterfall in our awesome nature class. Can you be as light as a raindrop, or shake like an earthquake? Maybe we'll need a few sun salutations to help us start our day.

Hawaiian Luau: Hula dancing is only the start to our awesome day on the island. Will you dare to climb up the volcano and jump in? Can you do the pineapple roll? Do you know how to act like a Polynesian warrior? You'll learn today!

Music Day: Whether you like to rock and roll, jam with Mozart, or jive to jazz, you'll learn a little something about rhythm in this class, and how that helps us move our bodies.

Summer is coming up so soon! I'll see your little ones in just a few more days!

I'm so excited to get ready for my gymnastics classes! My little gymnast, Jane, had a Jumping Beans birthday party, and all the kids had so much fun! And I must admit, so did I.

I'm also excited to include music and learning skills while we move. Our awesome program features different themes each week, with books, music, and obstacle courses all based on the theme. Will they get a review of colors, numbers, letters, and other preschool skills? Absolutely!
